Working between Marin County, California, and the Catskills, New York, Ilysa Leder creates ethereal landscapes that explore impermanence, imperfection, time, and our deep connections to nature and each other.

Born and raised in New York, Ilysa Leder’s artistic education began at the Met and Guggenheim, where she spent endless hours exploring under the guidance of her grandmother.

She began painting in high school, attending the Huntington School of Fine Art. After earning a BFA from SUNY Buffalo, she continued her studies at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She then moved to Miami for an advertising role, working as a computer artist and designer at the renowned Crispin Porter and Bogusky.

A lifetime of summers spent in the Catskills taught Leder the value and appreciation of the natural world and boredom as a path to creativity.

Leder carried those lessons to London, Miami, and Colorado, ultimately making her home on a mountaintop in Northern California in the shadow of Mt. Tam.
